Vienna 2027: International Conference on Assessing Quality in Higher Education
Please consider submitting a proposal by the priority deadline of Friday, November 13, 2026, to participate in the International Conference on Assessing Quality in Higher Education, being held in Vienna, Austria, Sunday, June 20, 2027, through Wednesday, June 23, 2027, at the Vienna Marriott Hotel.
We would be pleased to receive proposals addressing any of the broad conference themes:
- Strategic Directions: executing purposeful planning and forward-thinking approaches related to quality in higher education.
- Leading Improvements: promoting a culture of excellence in student learning and institutional effectiveness.
- Innovative Instruction: implementing leading-edge teaching methods to enhance learning experiences.
- Engaged Learning: facilitating active participation and immersive educational experiences that promote student involvement.
- Student Success: supporting and empowering students to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.
Presenters may apply for these opportunities to disseminate content at the international conference:
- Option #1: Panelist: One person submits a single 100-word abstract and will be assigned to participate in a moderated panel related to one of the conference themes. This option is only available to individuals. Panel sessions will occur on Monday and Tuesday in 60-minute formats and will be composed of up to four individuals. Panelists will share a brief 7-8 minute description of their content, participate in a moderated discussion, and engage with the audience through dialogue and Q&A. No PowerPoint or visuals are available for the panelist option; however, we will post handouts/resources to the conference website.
- Option #2: Poster Presenter(s): Up to two people submit a single 100-word abstract to showcase a poster related to one of the conference themes. This option permits co-presenter involvement. Posters will be displayed during one of several poster sessions offered on Sunday evening, Monday, and Tuesday, with posters affixed to boards. Specific poster dimensions will be communicated in acceptance materials. No electronic displays are available for the poster option; however we will post handouts/resources to the conference website.
Given the capacity of our venue, coupled with the desire to accommodate as many presenters as possible, the conference organizers will work with each proposal to determine the appropriate format for inclusion in the program. Thank you, in advance, for granting us flexibility as we develop the conference schedule.
All presenters—panels and poster contributors—will be invited to develop their presentation into an article for a special issue of Assessment Update focused on the International Conference on Assessing Quality in Higher Education. The issue is planned for release in November/December 2027, and manuscripts will be due in late-August 2027. More information about this publication opportunity will be shared next spring and summer.
Proposals received by the priority deadline of Friday, November 13, 2026, will receive acceptance notifications in early-December 2026. We will continue to accept additional proposals after the priority deadline on a case-by-case basis as program space permits.
All presenters must register and pay for the international conference by Friday, February 12, 2027. The conference registration fee for all participants is $625.00 USD.
