Dr. Mark Nicholas is a Vice President for the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Previously, he served as Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs at Framingham State University. Mark is Co-Editor of the Journal for Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness and a Senior Research Fellow with the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). Before transitioning to higher education, he worked as a corporate banking software consultant for Citicorp Information Technology. Dr. Nicholas has made scholarly contributions to the literature on critical thinking, course-embedded assessments, academic program assessment, research methodology, and program review. He has delivered numerous keynotes at various colleges and universities as well as regional and international assessment gatherings.
Mark earned his undergraduate degree in Economics, Political Science, and Sociology from St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore. He holds two master’s degrees: one in English Literature and another in Practical Ministries. He also earned a doctorate in Educational Studies from the University of Cincinnati. In his free time, he loves playing tennis, and it is on his bucket list to attend all four tennis Grand Slams.
